I've had my eye on Ford's brand new blog this week. They launched At the Show the minute the Detroit Auto Show opened and I'm impressed. This embattled company is doing something right: encouraging conversation about their cars! Auto shows have always seemed incredibly exciting to me--I just watched a short, tightly edited video that captured the glitz--Bill Gates on the big screen, cars rolling up on stage, flashbulbs, mobs of press jocking for position. The Times Wheels Blog and Jalopnik have nuthin on these guys, at least for this round. Congratulations Ford! The photo is of the odd looking Airstream. Love it or hate it (lots of negative comments on the blog) it's a big effort. I think it looks like an espresso machine.
I received a very nice customer service call the day after I purchased MrAnchorman.com for a whopping seven bucks from GoDaddy. I was so surprised I actually stayed on the line for about 5 minutes to chat with the rep. They wanted to make sure I was happy with the service, see if I had any questions or needed tech support. I don't since I have very few blogging needs at this point. So far GoDaddy has every telecom, tech, banking, and car company beat for friendliness in my experience.
For example, my 2004 car already needed two new tires and a pair of rotors after only 22,000 miles. They're weren't particularly nice about explaining themselves and merely tossed the dirty rotors in my trunk to prove I needed new ones. I called U.S. headquarters to make sure this isn't out of bounds and they told me rotors go bad quickly on "performance" cars driven hard. Whatever. My driving is almost all highway. I won't mention the name of the maker yet but I can tell you, few consumers would associate the brand with pedal-stomping performance.
Btw, you can find discount codes for GoDaddy all over the place. SoccerGirl even posts them on her chest. Another good source is the gangmembers of Gillmor.
